House & Family History: Between 1859 and 1877 the 1st Earl of Dudley paid the entire cost for the restoration of Worcester Cathedral (there is a monument to him in the cathedral). Lord Dudley was also a trustee of the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery.
Collections: The 1st Earl of Dudley had an important collection of Italian and Flemish paintings at Dudley House, including works by Bellini, Francia, Cuyp, and Ruysdael. There was also a Canova sculpture of Venus in the Picture Gallery of the House.
