Craigiehall House (Craigie Hall)

  • Earlier Houses: The current house replaced an earlier house on the site.

    Built / Designed For: William Johnstone, 2nd Earl of Annandale and Hartfell.

    House & Family History: Rudolf Hess parachuted onto the Craigiehall Estate in 1941 in an attempt to negotiate an end to World War II. It was at Craigiehall House in 1945 that the official surrender of German forces in Norway took place. Until 2015 Craigiehall served as the headquarters of the British Army in Scotland.
