House & Family History: A.N. Prentice designed Cavenham Hall between 1898 and 1899; the House was the seat of Adolph B.H. Goldschmidt, grandfather of Sir James Goldsmith, in the early 20th century. Cavenham was illustrated by Hermann Muthesius in his book "Das Englische Haus" in order to highlight the English technique of few communicating doors, while using doors near the corners of rooms.
