Burntcourt

  • House & Family History: Burntcourt was built on land granted by Charles I to Sir Richard Everard, but was burned down before construction was completed: when the troops of Cromwell approached Burntcourt in 1650 Lady Everard (a Royalist) set the House on fire to prevent it from falling into enemy hands.
