House & Family History: During World War II Bank Hall was occupied by the Royal Engineers, who used the house as a control center. The Powys family remained here until 1972, when they vacated the house; Bank Hall has been derelict since 1985. In 1995 the Friends of Bank Hall was formed to save the house; in 2003 Bank Hall was the first building to be featured in the BBC's "Restoration" TV series. The house was listed in the top 16 preservation basket cases in English Heritage's 2007 Buildings at Risk list. In 2017 the house and gardens were let by the Lilford Estates to the Heritage Trust for the North West on a 999-year lease.
Collections: The contents were auctioned in 1861, after the death of 3rd Lord Lilford.
Garden & Outbuildings: The estate remains part of the Lilford Estates.
