Notes: Mitchell was articled to Robert Stark Wilkinson from 1880 until 1883, after which he was an assistant at George & Peto and then and assistant to Frank Thomas Baggallay. Mitchell was clerk of works at St. Luke, Bermondsey, in 1884 and assistant to Thomas Jerram Bailey at the London School Board in 1885. He began independent practice in 1886 and was in partnership with Alfred Morris Butler in 1894.
