Notes: Descended from a long line of Scottish master masons, Robert's father, Thomas Mylne, was one of the leading Edinburgh masons during the reign of George II. Robert's brother, William Mylne, was also an architect.

Notes: The eldest son of William Wilkins Sr., Junior was brought up by his father as an architect. He entered Caius College, Cambridge, as a scholar in 1796 and began independent practice in Cambridge in 1804. According to Howard Colvin, Wilkins's earliest recorded work, Osberton Hall in Nottinghamshire, "...is notable for its Greek Doric portico [demolished], the first full-scale, pure Grecian portico in British domestic architecture." As the leading British oracle of the pure Greek Revival style, Wilkins is particularly remembered today as architect of The National Gallery, London, and Downing College, Cambridge.
