Notes: Taught by Wyatt, Atkinson attended the Royal Academy Schools in 1796 and won the Gold Medal in 1797. He introduced to London what became known as "Atkinson's cement," a type of Roman cement. He served after James Wyatt as the architect for the Board of Ordnance. Atkinson was principally an architect of country houses.
